AstroPay, an electronic payment system, is taking steps to empower shoppers in Peru, particularly those lacking conventional banking relationships. They have joined forces with Tebca Perú to introduce a Visa prepaid card, free to set up and utilize, that unlocks the potential of online purchases at any vendor accepting Visa worldwide. This card even enhances its appeal with cash back incentives!
This rollout is a crucial element of AstroPay’s plan to make digital transactions attainable for all. Users can add funds and spend both American dollars and Peruvian Soles, increasing its practicality. While AstroPay maintains a significant presence in the online gaming payments realm, this action demonstrates their dedication to wider financial integration.
Having already debuted a comparable card in the United Kingdom, AstroPay aims to bring this prepaid option to additional Latin American nations, with Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina high on the priority list.
Guillermo Dotta, AstroPay’s CTO and CPO, views this as a substantial stride in strengthening their standing within Peru’s swiftly expanding payments market. He highlighted that this introduction not only streamlines financial interactions for current users but also establishes a smooth entry point for those previously excluded from traditional banking. This initiative aligns with AstroPay’s objective to provide straightforward, safe, and user-friendly solutions that address the varied requirements of their clientele throughout Latin America.
