Major Australian gaming company, Aristocrat Leisure, has filed a lawsuit against rival Light & Wonder, claiming outright duplication of their wildly popular slot machine game, “Dragon Link.” Aristocrat contends that Light & Wonder participated in a deliberate scheme to imitate “Dragon Link,” essentially attempting to deceive players. They further allege that ex-employees, now employed by Light & Wonder, divulged proprietary information, breaching Nevada state regulations.
The crux of the legal battle is Aristocrat’s insistence that Light & Wonder obtained confidential data regarding the mechanics and attributes of “Dragon Link.” They indicate that Light & Wonder’s game possesses strikingly comparable gameplay, icons, winnings, and bonus rounds.
Further escalating the situation, Aristocrat emphasizes that Light & Wonder’s “Dragon Train” game was led by a former game developer who had contributed to “Dragon Link” during their tenure at Aristocrat. This game, “Dragon Train,” recently premiered in North America to considerable acclaim.
Light & Wonder is not accepting these allegations passively. They have responded forcefully, firmly refuting any misconduct concerning the creation of “Dragon Train,” a game they assert is a success in its own regard.
A representative for Light & Wonder declared, “These accusations are completely unfounded, and we plan to defend ourselves aggressively, including pursuing the dismissal of this frivolous lawsuit.”
