Entain’s New Zealand Expansion and 365scores Acquisition

Entain has provided further details regarding their plans for the new collaboration with Tab NZ and their recent acquisition of 365scores.

Entain released a statement outlining the current status of their agreements with Tab NZ and 365scores.

Entain is assisting Tab NZ in enhancing their betting and broadcasting operations in New Zealand. The partnership commenced on June 1st, 2023, and will extend for a period of 25 years.

Entain acquired 365scores, a sports media organization, for a sum of $150 million.

Entain anticipates that these two transactions will generate an estimated profit before taxes of £15 to £20 million in 2024, and £50 million in 2025.

Dean Shannon, the head of Entain in Australia and New Zealand, discussed the mutual benefits that both Tab NZ and Entain will derive from their partnership.

“Tab NZ holds a unique position as the sole betting license holder in New Zealand, operating all the betting outlets,” he stated. “This collaboration enables us to operate within the New Zealand market without any restrictions. The market generates approximately NZ$600 million and possesses significant growth potential.

“This partnership brings together the best aspects of Tab NZ and Entain.”

The individual remains concentrated on the New Zealand wagering marketplace. Shannon indicated that the marketplace could witness a possible expansion of nearly 35% over the following five years, which would elevate the marketplace valuation to $800 million NZD.

He also stated that Entain has pledged to “remit at least $150 million NZD annually to Tab NZ,” which will be carried out over the initial five years after the agreement is finalized.

Shannon mentioned that Entain’s Australian secure wagering toolkit, Punter Assist, will be incorporated into Tab NZ’s platform.

“The strategic collaboration between Entain Australia and Tab NZ presents compelling opportunities for development and value creation,” Shannon stated. “We will cooperate to provide an exceptional betting and gaming experience for New Zealand consumers, and we will profit from the advantages and opportunities that arise from this collaboration.”

Samir Ding, Entain’s Chief Strategy Officer and President of New Business, stated that the acquisition of 365scores will bring positive engagement.

“They are ardent sports enthusiasts, so their frequency of visits is exceptionally high, on average, users returning to the application utilize the 365scores application approximately 100 times per month,” Ding stated. “This is considerably above the industry standard, compared to the average of about 5 visits per month for conventional betting applications.”

Ding added that 365scores’ audience exists in several regulated marketplaces, including Mexico and Colombia, as well as upcoming regulated marketplaces, such as Brazil.

He highlighted that this would have a beneficial effect on Entain’s current operations in Brazil.

“365scores’ dominant standing in Latin America will enhance our existing operations in Brazil, assisting us in attaining our growth objectives in this key market, which has a clear regulatory framework, and in other regulated markets in Latin America,” Deen continued.

He also stated that he anticipates 365scores to generate £15 million to £20 million in EBITDA in 2024.
